Nephrology – Loretto Hospital

Description:

This hands-on inpatient Nephrology rotation provides students with direct clinical exposure to patients with a wide range of renal and electrolyte disorders. Students will have the opportunity to take patient histories, perform physical examinations, participate in patient management discussions, and present cases to the supervising physician. The rotation also provides insight into the US healthcare system through active inpatient experience and weekly didactic teaching sessions focused on clinical nephrology and inpatient care.

Description:

This hands-on inpatient Pulmonary & Critical Care rotation provides students with direct exposure to critically ill patients in both the inpatient setting and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Students will have the opportunity to take patient histories, perform physical examinations, participate in patient management discussions, and present cases to the supervising physician. During the rotation, students will rotate through the ICU and gain experience managing pulmonary and critical care conditions while also learning about the US healthcare system through active clinical involvement and weekly didactic teaching sessions.

General Surgery – Loretto Hospital

Description:

This hands-on General Surgery rotation provides students with direct exposure to surgical patient care in both the inpatient setting and operating room. Students will have the opportunity to take patient histories, perform physical examinations, participate in patient management discussions, and present cases to the supervising physician. Students will also have the opportunity to scrub into surgeries and participate in suture training sessions designed to strengthen fundamental surgical skills. The rotation includes weekly didactic teaching sessions and valuable exposure to the US healthcare system through active clinical involvement.

Emergency Medicine – Loretto Hospital

Description:

This hands-on Emergency Medicine rotation provides students with direct exposure to acute patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. Students will have the opportunity to take patient histories, perform physical examinations, participate in patient management discussions, and present cases to the supervising physician. Students are required to complete 4 shifts per week, with at least 1 weekend shift included. Night shifts may also be available depending on the department schedule. Description:

The rotation includes 5 clinical days per week and offers valuable insight into inpatient psychiatric care, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and the US healthcare system. Description:

This hands-on OB/GYN rotation provides students with direct clinical exposure in both inpatient and outpatient women’s health care settings. The rotation includes exposure to gynecologic and obstetric patient care in both clinic and hospital settings; however, deliveries are not included as part of the rotation. Students also gain valuable insight into the US healthcare system through active clinical involvement and teaching sessions.
